According to a well known cosmetics buyer, although there have always been men who have taken great care of their appearance, the strategy is to now appeal to the wider, men’s market - in particular to young men - a market that drives most of the growth in this industry.
Don't be surprised if very soon your toiletry kit contains not only shaving cream, deodorant and toothpaste, but concealer, oil-absorbing face powder
and brow gel. The men's market is particularly tempting to large cosmetics companies, which have seen sales at department stores plateau in recent years. Although still a niche market, retailers say men's cosmetics can only grow, given an aging population with the money and motivation to keep their youthful looks.
That's because guys are relying on an increasing number of made-for-men products like these to put their best face forward. uys have gone from secretly filching some of their girlfriends' moisturizers, to owning enough beauty products to make most drag queens blush.
So are we ready to embrace makeup on men? After all, the Beatles' long-ish hair was once considered an affront to modest '60s sensibilities. Or will men's makeup go the route of the men's skirt trend circa 2003 that never quite took off?
The purpose of wearing face makeup, like cover-up and powder, is to hide blemishes. If you have perfect skin, I envy you and you can skip this and the next paragraph and go straight to nail polish, lucky jerk .
Well-known cosmetic empires along with the smaller, up and comers are introducing skin care, fragrance and even makeup product lines targeted to men who have a penchant for primping.
Many male celebrities, actors, and models sit in a makeup chair before making a public appearance. It's no surprise that with modern society's emphasis on youth, perfection, and physical attraction, women aren't the only ones who want to accentuate their best facial features and hide blemishes and scars. Makeup for men is one of these double-edged things for women – yes, we would like men to look better, but how far do we want them to go, and do we want to know exactly how they got there?
Even in the metro age, dabbing concealer on a blemish is seen as an emasculating activity. American ambivalence about men's makeup seems to run pretty deep, as GQ fashion editor Brian Coats can attest, "I just think it can be a scary thing for guys to wear makeup. I kind of understand that." Coats believes makeup on men is not a good idea for the general population. "A guy should look like a guy. I think in general, guys just look better natural."
To reduce blister of eyes, grate a potato and tie in a cloth and place the cloth over eyes for about 15 minutes. Add a little pinch of salt in water and wash for bright and radiant eyes. Mix tomato juice and lemon juice in equal measure and apply around the eyes, after 30 minutes wash it off with cold and hot water alternatively. Make a mixture of sandal wood and nutmeg. Apply it around the eyes previous to sleep and wash it off in the morning.
For the final touch of any masculine handsome routine, I recommend you get some good cologne.

Does Makeup Make You Age Faster?
The relationship between makeup and aging tends to be a bit of a grey area. Often, many questions arise concerning this topic, though there aren’t a lot substantial answers. Most of the debates revolving around makeup and aging don’t seem to have any factual basis. This ambiguity has a lot to do with what aging itself actually means.
Aging occurs due to a lack of collagen and elastin. These two things help to hold skin together while ensuring that it is smooth, tight, strong and supple. Collagen and elastin also prevent the skin from loosening by maintaining the skin structure. This process prevents wrinkles and sagging from occurring.
The reason why so many different skin experts negatively equate makeup with aging is solely based upon the ingredients that makeup is composed of. There have been allegations that some of the ingredients inside certain makeup products contain toxins, which might negatively affect collagen and hence make the aging process faster.
Some types of makeup can clog pores causing a large amount of build-up. This build-up leads to acne and many other skin conditions. However, most of the beauty products on the market these days are non-comedogenic, which means that shouldn’t block your pores. Still, it is important to read all labels, understand all ingredients, and choose only those products that are all-natural.
Some experts also believe that makeup effectively blocks the sun. These claims are based on the premise that exposure to the sun (at least 15 minutes) is required in order to maintain healthy skin. While there is some truth behind the assumption that Vitamin D is necessary for the skin (the sun is an excellent source of Vitamin D), it has also been proven that more than 15 minutes of sun exposure can lead to cancer.
There have also been a lot of allegations that anti-aging cosmetic products pose threats to the skin. Claims have been made that these anti aging skin care products actually increase the rate of aging because of the toxic ingredients present in them. While this might be true of some products that are composed of chemicals, natural products do not contain any harmful ingredients.
Most of the arguments revolving around aging, anti aging and makeup are based on assumption-related risks. The important thing to remember is to wash your face with a high-quality product daily in order to avoid any clogged pores or build-up. Of course, this process is only as good as the cleansers that you choose, so make sure to select quality products.
Presently, there is no conclusive evidence that points towards makeup as the sole cause of making skin age faster. Since there is no concrete evidence either way, it is suggested that you look towards natural solutions for various skin care requirements.
Skin enhancement, anti aging products, and general skin cleaners should all be natural. Various natural applications (nutrition, topical, and diet-wise) all are known to be very most effective ways of ensuring young, beautiful, and healthy looking skin.

How to Know It's Time to Throw Away Your Makeup
Do not feel bad if you are one of those women who think that changing fashion and trends every three months is absurd. A lot of people feel the same way, especially now that the price of almost everything has risen astronomically. No one in her right mind, except probably the ultra rich, can religiously continue to change her wardrobe every quarter.
If you feel this way about fashion, you probably also despise the changing colors and fads of the makeup industry. The electric blue eye shadow that has been in vogue in January might already be a fashion faux pas in September. However, there might be some logical explanation behind these fashion transformations. For one thing, makeup does not last as long as bags, shoes and clothes. If you value your skin and safety, you need to understand that makeup has an expiry date just like other consumable items.
So when do you ditch your makeup? Here are a few tips that might help you decide:
Storage Is Very Important
Much like other commodities, the price of makeup is on the rise. Thus, it would only be wise to maximize the life of your makeup as much as you can. One way of making sure that your foundation, mascara or other cream-based stuff don't go rancid or congeal prematurely, you need to store them in places that are cool and dark. Do not leave them out in the sunlight because some of the important ingredients, such as preservatives, could decay or break down.
Oxygen is also among the number one enemies of makeup. Thus, it would be best to keep the lids and caps of your beauty kits secured when not in use. Leaving them open would make oxidation faster.
Cream Vs. Powder
If you have a relatively smooth and blemish-free face and you really do not need to cover your face with tons of makeup everyday, it would be best to choose a powder-based makeup rather than a cream-based variety. Powder-based foundation, concealer, blush or eye shadow usually lasts longer than its cream-based counterpart.
The rule of thumb is to throw out your cream makeup after one year. When it comes to foundations, however, the ones that have oil as a base can last about 18 months -- far longer than the ones that are water-based. Powder varieties can last for 24 up to 36 months, depending on how you store and take care of them.
Mind The Smell And Texture
Since there is really no expiration date printed on the boxes or bottles of makeup, it would be quite tricky to know when to throw them. As a general rule, however, you need to toss your foundation and other beauty paraphernalia when it changes color, texture and smell. These changes usually mean that bacteria are starting to take up residence in your makeup.
Be Careful With Mascara
One of the makeup products that you need to take particular care of is the mascara. A lot of women have gotten eye infection from using bacteria-infested mascara and other eye products. First, you do not want to share mascara with other people. Sharing this particular makeup is a fast way to spread infection. Next, if you have an eye infection, you need to throw your old mascara as soon as possible. Lastly, mascara is usually only good for three months.
Effect Of Retinol
It is important to note that the effectiveness or the potency of Retinol in makeup usually lasts for only a month. However, do not ditch the makeup yet because you can still use them to cover your blemish, give you rosy checks, or brighten up your eyes for a few more months.

Makeup For Oily Skin
We can't all be blessed with normal skin. Unfortunately, for many of us, oily skin is our struggle. On the positive side, those with oily skin have skin that doesn't show the signs of aging as quickly as other skin types. So, when life gives you lemons, create lemon juice and water to apply on oily skin. Rinse with warm water.
Oily skin can occur at different stages in your life; adolescence, pregnancy, and menopause. Hormones can play a role in oily skin. Oily skin is characterized by large pores, dullness, a grease-like appearance, and roughness. The sebaceous gland produces excess oil thus giving the skin the shine associated with oily skin. Washing the face several times a day can make the situation worse, causing the gland to produce even more oil. Choosing the right skin regimen and makeup for oily skin is not as difficult as it might seem.
Identifying Your Skin Type
It is important to know your skin type. Examine your face closely. Do you see large pores, flakes, or redness? Each can indicate a different skin type or be indicators of oily skin. Take a tissue to your face and blot. Did you absorb oil? If your self-examination reveals large pores and oil on the tissue, you could have oily skin. The redness can be from excessive washing or sensitive skin. I have combination skin. It is very oily with large pores in the t-zone and dry around my cheeks. If you are still unsure, consult a dermatologist or aesthetician.
Taking Care of Oily Skin
Caring for your skin now will provide benefits for the future. Your skin will thank you five years from now. Know how to take care of you skin, both inside and out. It is important to drink water so that the skin remains hydrated. Taking vitamins, especially vitamin B2 and B5 will also help your body. These vitamins can help the skin look more radiant and improve paleness.
Products for Preparing Oily Skin for Makeup
When cleansing, use an oil-based cleanser since it will help dissolve oil better. Do not use harsh cleaners that leave the skin feeling tight. This tightness will restrict oil flow and lead to clogged pores later. Also, massage the face when cleansing to avoid pushing dirt and oil into the pores. Scrubbing will clog the pores. Rinse with warm water to help dissolve oil. Use a mud or clay mask one or two times a week.
Read labels. Look for products that are for oily skin. Avoid products that contain alcohol since alcohol dries the skin. Petroleum based products such as mineral oil contain too much oil and can further clog pores. Use astringents containing acetone. Acetone dissolves oil better. Moisturizers need to be oil-free. You may only need to moisturize certain areas such as around the eyes. Mature skin will need to moisturize the entire face.
I find that applying cucumber juice before applying makeup helps my skin's appearance. Witch-hazel will do the same. Both are excellent ways to create a more balanced ph for the skin. You may even want to spritz lavender water on your face several times a day. It is a good hydrator for oily skin as well as providing antiseptic properties.
Makeup for Oily Skin
Read labels. There are some items that should be avoided and some items that you should look for in makeup for oily skin. There are certain makeup companies that are known for their work in designing products for specific skin types. I recommend Clinique. It has a reputation for excellent care and products. I also like Jane Iredale Cosmetics. This is a mineral based line used by many dermatologists.
Avoid
1. Avoid products containing oil from petroleum. This includes mineral oil. Use oil-free makeup or makeup that is intended to benefit oily skin.
2. Avoid makeup that contains alcohol. Alcohol will strip the skin of oil, which may cause the body to produce even more.
3. Look for ingredients such as bismuth oxychloride and dimenthicone. Both can clog pores and may cause blemishes. These are commonly found in foundation or powder based products.
Beneficial
1. Find foundations that contain titanium dioxide, a naturally occurring sun protector.
2. Makeup for oily skin should contain serecite to reduce the appearance of pores and help absorb oil.
3. Kaolin clay added in foundation will help oil control.
4. Zinc oxide used in makeup will act as an anti-inflammatory.
A makeup artist will use products designed for a customer's skin type in order to promote healthy skin. It is equally important for the makeup artist to become familiar with products and ingredients for specific skin care. Knowing how to take care of a customer's skin will benefit the client and the makeup artist's reputation.

Is Mineral Makeup Really Good for your Skin?
Discovered in the late 70's, mineral makeup has only recently started gaining popularity in the cosmetics world. One of the most famous claims regarding mineral makeup is that it is actually good for your skin. Is there any truth to this claim? Read on and find out.
First of all - what is mineral makeup? Mineral makeup is made from naturally-occuring crushed minerals, usually zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, iron oxides and mica. These loose minerals are combined together in different quantities to make a variety of mineral makeup powder formulations such as foundations, finishing powders, concealers, blushers, bronzers and eye shadows. The minerals titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in particular, act as a natural sunblock, effectively filtering UVA and UVB rays to deliver sun protection of up to SPF 20.
Mineral makeup is free of irritants like perfumes
, preservatives (such as parabens), alcohols and dyes. Many traditional makeup brands use synthetic FD&C dyes in their products - however, these dyes have been identified as the one of the leading causes of allergic reactions in makeup. Most mineral makeup lines do not use synthetic dyes, instead, the colors are derived from naturally-occuring iron oxide pigments. All this makes mineral makeup very suitable for people with sensitive skin. In fact, mineral makeup has even been used after surgical procedures like laser peels, when skin is at its most sensitive.
However, not all mineral makeup lines are completely free of chemical irritants. Some brands use the bismuth oxychloride, which can be very irritating on the skin. Bismuth oxychloride is a mineral that is used in some major mineral makeup lines because it imparts a shimmery look to their makeup, and is a cheap filler. Bismuth oxychloride is also heavy, hence the need to 'buff' or force it into your skin. Mineral makeup lines that do not use bismuth oxychloride tend to be lighter in texture and easier to apply.
Mineral makeup can also be good for acne sufferers. By its very nature, mineral cosmetics are non-comedogenic, oil-free, anti-inflammatory and cannot harbor bacteria, which means that acne blemishes can be covered or concealed without further aggravating them. Mineral makeup will not necessarily cure acne, but skin has a much better chance of healing while wearing it, compared to traditional makeup. Many have also reported that they have fallen asleep wearing their mineral makeup without suffering any breakouts the following day. In fact, some mineral makeup lines even have mineral night-time treatments, which are specially-formulated mineral powders that you can wear every night to improve your skin. A good excuse to wear makeup to bed?
Crucially, mineral makeup avoids the use of talc, a known carcinogen found in a lot of traditional makeup. There are also no petrochemicals or coal-derived ingredients, common in a lot of traditional makeup. As you can see, the ingredient listing in say, a mineral foundation is much shorter compared to a traditional liquid foundation.
The positive claims of mineral makeup cannot be applied to all mineral makeup brands or all people. Some will have different reactions compared to others. It is always good to research first before you buy.

Bridal Makeup - Choosing the Right Person
Bridal beauty is not a one day affair. You have start taking care of yourself days before the wedding. Three to four weeks before the wedding is good time to start any beauty regime if you need one. Many brides opt for bridal packages that include facials, body wraps and massages that help the body and skin immensely.
Here are few pointers for all those brides to be out there.
• If your one of those girls who has imagined her dress, cake and decor since she was a little girl, you probably even know what kind of look you are going for. If you aren't, then go through some magazines or surf the net to look at reference images for your wedding hair and makeup. You may like someone's eye shadow and some else's hair, so put together a few pictures that can be a reference for the final day.
• On your wedding day it is a good idea to hire a professional to get your makeup and hair done. It makes things easier for you. The best way to find a good makeup artist for your wedding hair and makeup is by reference. Ask your other married friends about makeup artists they have used in their own weddings. Look through their wedding photographs to see how good the makeup looks in the photographs. You are bound to get a few names and referrals, sort through it and visit the ones that really interest you.
• Meet with the makeup artists and begin your trial rounds. Take photographs of all the final result and compare them to make a final choice. Also consider cost and other charges while making a final choice.
• Once you have made up your mind pay an advance and book your slot. Some brides prefer getting ready at the salon and then reaching the venue, while some prefer getting ready at the venue. Getting ready at the venue saves time but involves a lot of interference from family and friends! If the bridesmaids want to get their hair and makeup done it is probably a good idea to book the appointment with you so that there is no confusion later. Make sure you show your makeup artist your dress and also swatches of the bridesmaid's dresses. It will help the makeup artist immensely and she will be able give you the wedding hair and makeup you have always wanted.
• Weddings are stressful so make sure you get enough sleep, eat right and stay fit before the wedding. If you don't look after your self it will show on your skin and face! Always remember a happy bride is a beautiful bride.

Golden Tips for Bridal Makeup
On the wedding day the Indian bride wants to look best when all when all eyes are set on her. Bride's make up, hairstyle and outfit should be perfectly matched. Her overall look should match her personality. From the bridal outfit to her make up and hairstyle everything should add to her beauty and compliment each other. For a bride her wedding dress is of her most priority.
On your wedding day, you want to look fabulous-but remain true to yourself. You don't want to look like a stranger in your wedding photos.
1. Don’t usually wear makeup? Bend your rule just a little. At the very least, your skin should look flawless and glowing
2. Go through magazines to help you decide how you want your wedding makeup to look before you meet with a makeup artist or purchase any cosmetics. You might want to do this with your groom if you have heard him say things like "you don't need any makeup," "you're beautiful just the way you are," or "just wear what you usually wear." You should let him know that wedding makeup is applied a little differently for photography and that it needs to last all day. If possible, include him when looking through the magazines for wedding makeup styles.
3. To cover the reddish skin, use sheer color corrector and apply tinted moisturizer of yellowish green or olive green shade to neutralize it.
4. Pink color blush is not for the wedding day, generally speaking. Try bronzer under cheekbones instead.
5. For brides with oily skin, be sure to avoid any harsh skin treatments as these can actually increase the amount of oil in your skin. A better alternative is to being a skin care routine with cleansers and balancers made specifically for your skin type.
6. Don’t be afraid to experiment with makeup in the months leading up to the wedding. You should aim to have your makeup choices made at least a month before the wedding so that you can be sure you do not have nasty reactions to new products.
7. Don’t feel that your bridal makeup needs to be very heavy for it to look good in pictures. If you do this, your wedding makeup will only look as though it's been caked on.
8. Apply two layers of waterproof mascara, having few seconds pause between, to avoid smudging Make sure you use smudge proof eye makeup. Wedding ceremonies take a longer time and you might rub the eyes accidentally. Eye shadow should compliment your skin tone and the outfit your wear. Use eyelashes for a dramatic look.
9. Don't forget to carry all of your bridal makeup with you. You never know when you may need to reapply makeup at your wedding.
10. Use a long-lasting lipstick. When they first came out, most were dry and not suitable for a day-filled with close-ups and endless congratulatory kisses. But the new generation wised up with separate color and moisturizer. Apply the color once at the beginning of the day, and remoisturize a couple of times to keep lips luscious and picture-perfect. My favorites are the Cover Girl Outlast All-day Lipcolor.

7 Steps to Great Makeup
1. Avoid wearing too much
Makeup is meant to enhance features not bring negative attention to you. That's what wearing too much makeup will do; it will bring you unwanted attention. Don't wear too much of anything such as:
i) Eyeliner: dark, thick eyeliner will make you look overdone and will ruin the rest of your makeup.
ii) Mascara: too much mascara looks fake and will flake. It looks especially bad if worn with thick eyeliner or dark blue eye eye shadow.
iii) Foundation: Make sure your foundation is the same color as your skin. Foundation is meant to protect and give the face a smooth look. The magic word is blend.
iv) Powder:The same holds true for powder - not too much. Also, be sure to blend your makeup so there are no obvious lineS
2. Lips
Apply lip liner to completely cover the lips, add color and your lipstick will stay on much longer. Make sure your lip liner doesn't show. Also, your lip color should match your skin tone; wear cool colors if you have cool coloring and warm colors if you have warm coloring. If you want to make your lips look smaller, keep your liner on the inside of your lips. However, if you decide to make your lips look larger, going outside the natural outline of you lips is a mistake. This can look quite messy and unnatural.
3. Appropriate makeup
Wear makeup that is appropriate for the occasion. If you are going to the beach you shouldn't wear the same or as much makeup as you would if you were going dancing. Also, when you are in daylight your makeup should be a lighter than when you are out for the evening.
4. Too little or no makeup
Some women don't wear makeup because they are not sure how to use it and are afraid of being overdone. If you are unsure, start will light colours in your shade. Start slowly and add one product at a time. Maybe start with foundation, add mascara, blush or lipstick. If you are not used to wearing makeup, using a lot a first may be a little too much for you, so start slowly. The bottom line is a little is better than none. If you are still unsure seek professional advice.
5. Overall look
When your makeup is completed it should look natural. That means avoiding colours that clash. If you have dark skin and hair you will look better in darker shades; light colours will make you look washed out. If your hair and skin tone are light, light colours will look better on you. Dark makeup will make you look older and harsh. If you have oily skin, first use oil control moisturizer and foundation. Then be sure to wear loose powder, keeping pressed powder with you for touch ups.
6. Hair color
Your hair color should also be in harmony with your skin. If you have dark hair and you want to add color, keep it close to the same shade. If you have light hair, use light colors. As you age your skin will lighten, so should your hair color. One last thing about hair color - if you do color you hair be sure you keep it up, don't let your roots show.
7. One last thing
Keep makeup looking fresh all day by doing regular touch ups. Don't let your makeup fade or crease. Smile!!!

Makeup Tips For Brides
Whatever the occasion, makeup can enhance or destroy your look. If you get it right, the overall look can be amazing; get it wrong and it all looks like an artificial mess. For a bride to be all these considerations are multiplied in importance so as to look as beautiful as possible on the big day.
One of the major mistakes brides tend to make is to wear no or very little makeup. Even if a bride is lucky enough to have a gorgeous natural look, it would still make sense to wear a little. There will likely be no other day when you will be photographed more than your wedding day, and covering up slight blemishes will help you treasure those photos the rest of your life.
If on a day-to-day basis you are not used to wearing makeup, when the day comes you seriously need to consider getting a professional to do the work for you. Take advantage of their skills as artists.
For a lighter look, they would apply makeup lightly, with a sheer foundation topped with a powder to make your skin look flawless. A light touch of mascara and the look is finished. Their goal is not to make you look plastic, but to just cover up slight imperfections, and smooth out the skin, highlighting your eyes and smile.
On the other side of the coin, avoid too much. Brides are often talked into adding as much makeup as a stage performer. If it seems like you have slightly too much on, you have way too much on.
Finally, remember to take the weather and ambient heat into account. If your lucky day promises to be a hot one, keep the makeup as light as possible so it does not run or cake. Remember you will be standing there in front of two entire families and their friends; you are going to be hot.

Quickie Makeup Tips
In a hurry to get to that party? Whoops, you overslept and you're late to work! Here are some tips to speed-up your makeup routine - you may even be able to use these for your everyday routine, and have more time for that antioxidant filled cup of coffee in the morning...
Go to basic mode...
If you're in a REAL crunch, and only have about 5-10 minutes to put on your makeup, strip down your routine to the basics. Skip the eyeliner, for example, and go with a simple mascara brush. Here's a quick five-minute makeup routine:
• Lightly and quickly wipe your face with witch hazel on a cotton pad. This is a great way to clean your skin and get it ready for the application of your base lotion and makeup.
• Apply a thin coating of lotion - nothing greasy - even hand lotion will work in a pinch.
• Starting on your cheek, dab a fingertip with your foundation or base liquid. Spread quickly with your fingertips around the remainder of that side of your face and cheek. Don't forget to bring the makeup to just below your jaw line to avoid the tell-tale makeup "mask." Add more foundation or base, if needed - but, be careful; foundation makeup is not designed to cover up, only to blend and unify your skin color.
• Repeat the above for your other cheek, chin and forehead. Make sure that, even though you are in a rush, you blend carefully. It's important to do this in good light to see how that makeup is blending in.
• For a quick 'cover' on any blemishes, simply dab the foundation or base makeup very lightly (a q-tip will work here) and blend in. You don't have time for the full cover up, but this will definitely lessen the blemish effect until you have some time to do some cover up when you get a breather.
• Apply some rouge or blush on your cheekbones and blend in
• Apply mascara as usual. You may have to skip eye liner, eye shadow and other detail effects.
You're done. You'll feel and look better, even though you only had 5 minutes to do it!

The Origins of Makeup
Ladies (and, let's be honest, some men), when you're putting on your foundation, mascara and other makeup, do you wonder how this all came about? In other words, why do we wear makeup, and when did we start wearing makeup? It may come as a surprise to you that the wearing of makeup is a tradition that has been in existence for literally thousands of years.
Most historians agree that makeup as worn to enhance features was first worn by ancient Egyptians, circa 3,000 BC; that's more than 5,000 years ago. Tombs from the time period have been found with jars that contained a substance that helped keep the skin hydrated and fresh; this substance was called unguent, and it was worn by both women and men.
Jump forward to ancient Rome, when it was common for women and men to darken around their eyes with coal, whiten their complexion with chalk, and add a little 'blush' effect with natural dyes that were derived from the red rocks. Romans kept their teeth sparkling white by using pumice - a rough substance obtained from cooled volcanic lava.
During the European Middle Ages, and into the Renaissance, both women and (again) men valued pale skin, and as such, applied a variety of materials, some very harmful (for example, lead paint) to the applicant. Red rouge and bright lipstick were added to the facial repertoire in the 1700s, in part to exhibit a vibrant and bright personality. Although men at that time were powdering their wigs and faces, women added the brighter colors to their face as well. In general, men wore makeup universally until the mid-1800s in Europe and the United States.
Modern use of makeup (mascara, foundation/base, rouge, lipstick, eye liner/makeup and hair coloring) came into its own during the early 20th century. Mass marketing of makeup began in fervor in the 1920's and makeup was now worn by women of all socio-economic backgrounds.
Who would've thought that that eyeliner you delicately apply to your eyelids has been around (in some form or another) for over 5,000 years.
Next time you are sitting in front of your contemporary vanity table, think about the fact that several thousand years ago, a woman was doing the same thing in front of their makeup vanity table.

Next time you are sitting in front of your contemporary vanity table, think about the fact that several thousand years ago, a woman was doing the same thing in front of their makeup vanity table.

Breakup to Makeup - Six Tips You Didn't Know When Trying to Get Your Ex Back
When your girlfriend or boyfriend, husband or wife leaves you but you're still in love with them, how can you go from a breakup to makeup? What can do you that will help them to change their mind; is there anything you can do? Have you seen people easily go from breakup to makeup and wonder, "how in the world can I do the same thing?" For all those asking this question, here are some tips to help you win the love of your life back even after he/she dumps you.
Tip 1 - Learn Why The Relationship Failed
When you're trying to go from a breakup to makeup, you need to understand why the relationship failed. After all, no one wants to go back into a relationship where the same mistakes are repeated over and over and over again. Learn these mistakes and take steps that will prevent future ones from occurring. If you absolutely don't know what went wrong, you may want to try and find out. You may need to give yourself some time before you contact your ex to talk about what happened.
Tip 2 - Give Your Ex Some Space
When you're trying to win your ex back, you need to remember to give your ex (and yourself) some space. Remember that your ex called the relationship quits because he/she needed some space to figure things out. You may think that talking with your ex, stating your side of the case is the best thing for the survival of your relationship but if you want them back, steer clear. All you end up doing is pushing them further away and looking like a psycho.
Tip 3 - Improve Yourself Both Mentally and Physically
When you're in a relationship, it's not uncommon to let yourself go a bit especially physically; after all, you've gotten comfortable with your significant other. If you feel the need to lose weight, consider joining a gym or walk around your neighborhood. Consider taking a friend with you so that this doesn't bore you and end up quitting. On top of working out, you can also change your hairstyle, clothing style, etc. When you're trying to better yourself mentally, make sure to work through your breakup emotions. Work through them by talking to friends or writing down how you feel.
Tip 4 - Make Your Apologies
Another breakup to makeup tip is to apologize to your ex for your part in the downfall of the relationship and the eventual breakup. Let your ex know that you understand why they left and that they were right to do so; that things were obviously wrong and a breakup was inevitable. By making these apologies, you're working your way back into their life.
Tip 5 - Prepare To Talk
Once you've opened the lines of communication again, be prepared to talk about what happened. There may be some things that your ex is going to say that will end up hurting your feelings. Don't come to the talk, ready to argue your case. This is the time to take everything in and think. If you truly want to go from a breakup to makeup, then don't go on the offense; just listen to when he/she talks and expresses their feelings and what they expect now from you.
Tip 6 - Find Some Balance In Your Life
Your final breakup to makeup tip is to work on putting some balance into your life. Don't let one thing rule over another. For instance, when you're gone from work, leave work at home. When you're at work, leave your home life at home. This is also true when it comes to winning back your ex girl/boyfriend. When you and your ex get back together, you'll need to maintain some balance. Make sure you take time for yourself and time for your significant other.
With using the above six tips, you can go from a breakup to makeup in no time. Just remember that patience is a virtue and that in the end, you'll win. Just don't push the matter to go faster than your ex wants because that will only cause them to move further away, not closer, to you.

How to Get Perfect Red Lips
There are several simple steps to getting those perfect red lips you want.
First, ensure that your lips are smooth and well-conditioned. Use lip conditioner on both the top and the bottom, then wipe it away. You do not want them to be wet when you apply the color. If your lips are dry or chapped, you may need to exfoliate them first.
Next, use lip liner, but use a cream stick liner to help you blend and control the lipstick. Start with the edges, then fill in the entire lip, which will help the color last a long time and prevent smudging or feathering. Be sure to open your mouth and get in the corners, or the part you miss will be visible when you are talking. Make sure your "cupid's bow" is well-defined.
Then, choose your lip color. Any deep red color that works well with your skin tone will do. But use a lip brush instead of applying it straight from the tube, since you can be more precise in your application of the color.
Add a gloss if that works well with your lips, or you can leave it with a matte finish. You can use either red or clear gloss. Place it in the center of your lips, then rub them together to smear it. Gloss helps accentuate your mouth and give it a fuller look.
Lastly, take a small brush and use some concealer around the outside of the lip line. This helps the lips stay well-defined, and will decrease the chances of the lipstick feathering. This helps your lips really pop. If you made any small mistakes in the earlier steps, the concealer will help correct that. Then blend the concealer out.

Feeling Better With Face Makeup
Face makeup is a necessity for many women, it is a part of who they are and helps how they feel about themselves. It is a part of their daily routine and it is sometimes reflective in the self-esteem that is felt. Makeup makes girls feel pretty and beautiful and with all of the choices out there, a makeup counter can be as enticing as a child at a candy counter. Business is cashing in on the products they make and deliver and so are the advertising companies who sell them. It is a booming business and will continue to grow as long as women choose to wear makeup.
For many girls as soon as they hit around thirteen the idea of wearing makeup becomes a priority. And sometimes parents frown upon it because it signifies the concept of being older and growing into a teenager. For teenagers who have approving parents or not, buying makeup and applying it can be an overwhelming task. Cosmetic counters are loaded with products and price ranges and it makes it hard to know what to buy and from what company. Many girls rely on the advertisement they see on TV. Popular brands will have been advertised in front of them for the past few years and they have probably noticed. And not only do girls rely on advertising they see on TV and in magazines, they also pay attention to product packaging and overall displays. The prettier and glamorous it looks, the more it will sell.
Choosing colors for teenagers is also a challenge. Once they find the product name they want, it is then they need to decide what colors and actual makeup pieces they need. Usually there is someone around the cosmetic counters to help young girls decide on what to get. Girls just coming into wearing makeup are usually interested in foundation that is oil controlled and softness the appearance of redness caused by pimples and blackheads. They usually look for eyeliner and mascara and of course lipstick. Wearing lipstick for a young girl is a feeling of getting older and becoming more beautiful.
As a girl ages into womanhood her need for makeup may change. The foundation needs may change as now they might want something with sun block and even wrinkle creams built right into the foundation. The colors that were once worn as a younger girl might mature into something less pink and more neutral. Makeup worn by women is sometimes put on to make it look like they have no makeup on at all. However, when a woman goes out at night, she will probably pick darker colors to accentuate the way she looks and wants to feel on a night out.
The concept of makeup is different for each woman. It can be that she wants to wear it because she wants everyone to know she has it on, such as in heavy eye liner with dark shades around the eyes, to someone who just wants to be noticed. Perhaps there eyelashes look flat or their face red and blotchy, maybe even their lips are the same shade as the rest of their skin, for girls like that, wearing makeup makes them feel better, although they put it on to make it look like natural features. One thing is for sure, for all women wearing makeup; it boosts self-esteem and makes them feel beautiful allowing for inner features to shine through as well.

Eye Makeup Techniques and Eye Makeup Tricks Exposed
Like many of you looking to achieve beautiful eye makeup, I am constantly learning and researching tips for improving my eye makeup capabilities. Over time I have reached the conclusion that eye makeup application is not that difficult once you learn some of the "special" eye makeup techniques and eye makeup tricks. Join me as we learn how to apply professional looking eye makeup step by step.
Step 1: "Choose Eye-Shadow Colors Carefully"
Select eye-shadow colors that contrast with or heighten the coloration of your eyes instead of matching it precisely. Violet eye shadow, for instance, exposes the green in hazel eyes; topaz causes brown eyes to look deeper. Mauve, coral and gray are complimentary to blue eyes.
Eye shadow ought to also enhance your skin tone and the color in your clothing. Softened shades appear most effective in the daytime; use iridescent or brilliant colors at night, if at all.
Step 2: "Determine Your Eye Factors"
Hopefully you have noticed by now that not everyone has the same shaped eyes. This fact is very important as it will determine the eye makeup technique for applying eye- shadow. So before you proceed any further, stop and examine your eye shape by looking in a mirror or have someone else observe and tell you whether your eyes are:
* classic egg-shaped (oval) or not
* small and recessed or striking
* close together (close set) or wide apart (wide set).
These three factors play a prominent part in the eye makeup application that follows, so it is vital that you are as accurate as possible with your observation. Perhaps have several people help with this step for a better result.
Step 3: "Shading Tips"
If your eyes are the classic egg-shaped, apply a medium shade from the eye crease to the eyelashes, a somewhat darker shade on the eye crease, and a light shadow along the browbone. Blend in the colors upwards and out. If you eyes are less than perfect ovals, you are able to redefine their shape with shadow. Bear in mind that a light color will bring an eye area forwards; a dark color will reduce it.
To make small or sunken eyes seem bigger, use a pale shade from the browbone to the lashes. Broaden them even more by employing a small "V" of slightly darker shade just on the far side of the outer eye corners. Large eyes will appear smaller if you use a dark shade all over the full lid just about to the browbone.
To make close-set eyes appear farther separated, use a pale shade on the third of the eyelids nearest the nose, a darker shade close to the temple. Reverse this to cause wide-set eyes to appear closer together.
Step 4: "Shaping Techniques"
Utilize a liquid or pencil eyeliner to accent shape. Draw a thin line as near the eyelashes as possible, as well on the outer third of the lower lid; smear it lightly for a natural look.
Step 5: "Mascara Tricks"
For a "wide-awake" effect, use an eyelash curler prior to putting on mascara. Hold up the curler near the base of the eyelashes and squeeze; count to three, then let go. Move the curler further out towards the tips of the lashes and squeeze once again.
Put on mascara with your eyes open. Grasping the wand vertically, coat the tips of the upper eyelashes, and then drag the wand horizontally across the lashes from base to tips. If you wish, you can likewise brush mascara to the lower lashes. If any eyelashes bunch up, divide them with the wand tip. Employ a cotton swab for cleanups.
Congratulations! If you closely followed the basic eye makeup techniques and eye makeup tricks as directed above, you should now be looking at some beautiful eye makeup. If you did not get the results you wanted, please try again. Like most things in life, whether learning to ride a bicycle, learning to skate, etc., it all gets easier and better with practice. In no time at all you will be able to apply such perfect eye makeup that your friends will think you paid to have it done!

How to Cure Acne Naturally by Changing Your Makeup Routine
Many people are not aware that there is a huge connection between acne and the type of makeup that you use. Many makeups contain oils, chemicals and other ingredients that clog your pores and cause acne on your face as well as on the side of your face. There are ways though to alter your makeup routine and thus help reduce the amount of acne you have currently and preventing any future acne breakouts.
To begin with you will want to avoid makeup that contains the oil that most makeup manufacturers use when their makeup is made. For those who must wear foundation look for one that says "oil free" on the packaging. There are a few different types of these out on the market as well as some powder foundations that are oil free, which are safe to use when you are trying to cure your acne naturally by changing your makeup routine. If you can avoid using foundation unless it is for a special occasion you will have a better chance avoiding getting the acne. A good loose powder for your face is a much better choice for those with acne. Be sure to check the packaging on these as well to avoid powders with an excessive amount of oil.
You have probably heard of the new mineral makeup types that are out there. These are generally a good choice for those who are trying to cure their acne. They contain natural ingredients that will not clog your pores like regular makeup types do. They will also be less likely to irritate your skin. These are available at many different locations and are usually around the same price as normal makeup.
Cleaning your makeup tools properly is also imperative to helping cure acne naturally. This is very simple and something that can be done every day. If you use a makeup pad every day, after you use it simply wash it thoroughly and leave it out to dry. You can also invest in some inexpensive ones so you are able to have a new one each day. By not cleaning these pads and brushes properly you are allowing bacteria build up which will then be transferred to your face increasing the chance of breakouts occurring.
Lastly you can help cure acne naturally by changing your cleanser. When you go to remove your makeup and use your cleanser look for a cleanser that is meant for normal or oily skin. There are many cleansers that do more harm than good. You may have to try a couple before you find the right one but once you start to see your skin clear up you will be glad you changed your makeup routine to cure your acne the natural way.
